6-12 month: 56 sts / 16 inches
Toddler: 60 sts / 17 inches
Child: 68 sts / 19 inches
Teen: 72 sts / 21 inches
Adult: 80 sts / 23 inches

Crochet Sun Hat Pattern Gauge USING J/10 6.0 mm HOOK: 14 sc x 16 rows = 4” square
It is important to make a gauge swatch before beginning to ensure a good fit.

STEP 1: Create a loop with yarn, place hook through the loop, yo and pull the yarn through the loop, keeping the loop open in a circle instead of pulling the yarn tight, ch 1.
STEP 2: Insert hook back in circle, yo and pull up a loop through the circle.
STEP 3: Yo again and pull through the 2 loops on the hook, 1 sc completed!
STEP 4: Repeat Steps 2-3 to create additional stitches. Hold stitches with one hand, gently pull the yarn end with the other hand to close the circle.

- Read through the entire pattern first. Be sure to make a gauge swatch to ensure your crochet sunhat will fit!
- This Crochet Sun Hat Pattern is worked in the round. You will use a J/10 6.0 mm hook for the top and sides of the sun hat, and a H/8 5.0 mm hook for the brim.
- Beginning chain counts as a stitch on dc rounds only. Place the 1st stitch on sc rounds in the same stitch as ch 1.
- Sl st does not count as a stitch except on the final round of the pattern.
- Repeat stitches between [ and ] the number of times indicated.
- Beginning rounds of hat are worked in continuous rounds, without joining. Use a stitch marker to keep track of the first stitch of each round.
