Crochet Gnome Ornament Pattern
My cute Gnome crochet pattern works up quickly! Mine took me less than 2 hours, so they’re great for quick gifts or stocking your market table! The crochet gift card holders use simple stitches and only the treble crochet is rated intermediate. You will need to seam the hats and beards together, and sew the nose onto the beard, then the beard and hat together, but I have included tons of photos to guide you! Plus you can add a quick chain and make your crochet gift card holder into a fab gnome Christmas Tree Ornament too!
These gnome ornaments are a fun Netflix and chill type of project, especially if you’re making a few at once. No matter if you watch your fave movie on Netflix or Prime Video, or pick a new, bingeable audiobook, while working on your Christmas Gnome Basket! I am currently listening to A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes on Audible after falling in love with the 3 previous Hunger Games books by the same author – Suzanne Collins years ago. This is a re-read before we go see the new movie later this week! I highly recommend all of them! 💜

Best Yarn for Gift Card Holders
The best yarn for crochet gift card holders is worsted or aran weight cotton. This type of yarn is stiff enough to hold its shape, but it is also soft and easy to work with. I love working with Paintbox Cotton Aran Yarn for making gift card holders and amigurumi, and they offer a ton of colors to choose from! Other popular brands of worsted weight cotton yarn you can try are Knit Picks Dishie, Lily Sugar n’Cream and Bernat Handicrafter.
Here’s what you need to get started: 20 – 25 yds for the Hat, 20 – 25 yds for the Beard, and scrap yarn (less than 5 yds) of the skin tone yarn of your choice for the Nose. You will also need a G/6 – 4.0/4.25 mm crochet hook. ← I highly recommend these gorgeous beauties! My 100% go to hooks are Furls Streamline Resin Hooks – especially working with cotton yarn. I loved using mine to create this Christmas Gnome Crochet Gift Card Holder! 😍 No matter what you choose, I think you will have a LOT of fun picking out your colors for this project.
