Gnome Basket Crochet Pattern
DIY Crochet Organizer Pattern!
It’s that time of the year again! All of us hookers are hooking, 24/7! Cranking out cozy hats and mittens, stocking our tables for markets, and of course carefully crafting gifts upon gifts, for teachers, family, and friends. But don’t forget to spoil yourself a little too and be sure to make yourselves some cozy home decor too, and keep things looking and feeling festive! The holiday season doesn’t just have to be about everyone else.
I’ve really been digging the cottagecore vibe over the past couple years, and I know y’all have too because it’s still going strong! So I just had to combine a cute little gnome pattern with a fab crochet basket pattern and BOOM! We’ve got a fun and festive pattern, that is functional too – y’all know how I love those kinds of patterns! So let’s make a festive Faegryn the Gnome Gift Basket for someone special or for your home this year! I hope y’all love this new Gnome Basket crochet pattern, as much as I do! 🙂
Christmas Gnome Basket Crochet Pattern
This adorable little gnome is the perfect way to add a touch of Christmas cheer to your home, and he’s also a great gift for gnome lovers of all ages. How adorable would he be as a Gnome Gift Basket filled with treats and festive goodies?
This pattern is easy to follow, even for beginners, and it only requires a few basic crochet stitches. You can make your gnome any size you like, and he can be made in any color yarn you choose.
Here are some additional tips for making your gnome basket crochet pattern:
- Use different colors of yarn to create a unique and festive look for your gnome.
- Remember that gnome baskets make wonderful gifts!
- Add embellishments such as buttons, beads, or bells to your gnome’s hat and beard.
- Make a smaller version of the gnome basket to use as an ornament or desk organizer.
- Use the gnome basket pattern to make other types of baskets, such as a Christmas gift basket, an Easter basket or a Halloween basket.

Crochet Gnome Baskets Pattern
My Faegryn the Gnome Basket crochet pattern works up quickly! I finished both of my samples in just a few hours, the large one too! The baskets are simple to make because you’re just making simple increases, then working in the round including for the handles. The crochet gnome pattern is worked separately, but you just need to sew the beard, nose, and hat onto the basket with photos to guide you! I’ve included 2 sizes in the pattern, which are both generously sized, but not too big. These nice, sturdy Easter Baskets are the perfect size for decorative storage and organization around your home or as a fab handmade gift basket!
This is the ideal Netflix and chill type of project with lots of repetition, so whether you watch your fave movie on Netflix or Prime Video, or pick a new, bingeable audiobook, while working on your Christmas Gnome Basket! I am currently listening to King of Scars on Audible after falling in love with the Grishaverse (Shadow and Bone Trilogy and Crooked Kingdom Duology) by the same author – Leigh Bardugo. I highly recommend all of them! 💜
Best Yarn for Gnome Baskets
The best yarn for gnome baskets is a super bulky yarn. This type of yarn is thick enough to hold its shape, but it is also soft and easy to work with. You can also hold 2 strands of any medium worsted weight yarn together. I love working with Lion Brand Hometown USA Yarn for making sturdy baskets with a ton of colors to choose from! Some popular brands of medium worsted weight yarn you can try are Premier Basix, Red Heart Super Saver, and Caron Simply Soft.
When choosing a different yarn for your gnome basket, it is important to consider the colors and patterns you want to use. You can choose a solid color yarn, tweed, or a variegated yarn. You can also choose a yarn with a novelty pattern, such as a pom-pom yarn or a sparkle yarn.
Here’s what you need to get started: 120 – 200 yds of yarn for the Basket, 10 – 45 yds for the Hat, 10 – 20 yds for the Beard, and scrap yarn (less than 5 yds) of the skin tone yarn of your choice for the Nose. You will also need a N/P/15 – 10.0 mm crochet hook for the Basket and J/10 6.0 mm crochet hook for the Gnome Parts. ← I highly recommend these gorgeous beauties! My 100% go to hooks are Furls Streamline Resin Hooks – especially working with super bulky yarn. I loved using mine to create this Christmas Gnome Crochet Basket!
Below are the yarns I used to create my samples! For this project I used Lion Brand Hometown USA in Portland Wine and Napa Valley Pinot for the Baskets, Tampa Spice and Montpelier Peacock for the Hats, and New York White for the Beards. I’m not sure which combo I love the most!! 😍 I think you will have a LOT of fun choosing your colors for this project.

Crochet Gnome Phenomenon
In recent years, there has been a surge in popularity of crochet gnome patterns. Gnomes are relatively easy to crochet, even for beginners. They are also very versatile and can be made in a variety of sizes, colors, and styles.
One of the reasons for the popularity of crochet gnome patterns is that they are a fun and creative way to decorate for the holidays. Gnomes can be used as Christmas ornaments, stocking stuffers, or simply as festive decorations around the house.
Background of Gnomes at Christmas
Gnomes have been associated with Christmas time for centuries. They are often depicted as small, bearded creatures wearing red hats and green clothes. Scandinavian Gnomes are said to be magical creatures who live in forests and mountains. They are known for their love of nature and their mischievous ways.
In the Christmas tradition, gnomes are often associated with good luck and prosperity. They are said to bring gifts to children on Christmas Eve and to help Santa Claus make his toys. Gnomes are also often used as Christmas decorations, such as ornaments, stockings, and figurines.
Modern Spin on Traditional Gnomes
Traditional gnomes are often depicted as short and stocky, with long beards and pointed hats. However, in recent years, there has been a trend towards creating more modern versions of gnomes. These modern gnomes are often taller and slimmer, with shorter beards and smaller hats. They may also be dressed in more contemporary clothing, such as jeans and t-shirts. Often garden gnomes can be seen dressed in these creative ways.
One way to add a modern spin to your traditional gnome basket is to use different colors and materials. For example, you could use a metallic yarn or a faux fur yarn to create a more unique and stylish gnome. You could also add embellishments to your gnome, such as buttons, beads, or sequins.
Repurposing Gnome Basket Throughout the Year
Gnome baskets can be used for more than just Christmas decorations. They can also be used to store and organize a variety of items throughout the year. For example, you could use a gnome basket to store yarn, craft supplies, or even snacks.
Here are a few ideas for repurposing your gnome basket throughout the year:
- Use it to store candy and snacks in your pantry or on your kitchen counter.
- Use it to store office supplies, such as pens, pencils, and paper clips.
- Use it to store craft supplies, such as yarn, fabric, and scissors.
- Use it to store toiletries in your bathroom.
- Use it to store toys and games in your child’s bedroom.
- Use it to store laundry supplies in your laundry room.
Organize Your Home With Gnome Baskets
Gnome baskets are a great way to organize your home. They can be used to store a variety of items in any room of the house.
Here are a few tips for organizing your home with these gnome basket crochet patterns:
- Create gnome baskets in different sizes and colors to store different types of items.
- Place gnome baskets in strategic locations throughout your home to make it easy to put things away and find them again.
- Use gnome baskets to store seasonal items, such as Christmas decorations or Halloween costumes.
- Use gnome baskets to store items that you use on a regular basis, such as keys, wallets, and phones.
Gnome baskets are a fun and functional way to organize your home. They are also a great way to add a touch of fun and whimsy to your everyday!
