Hopscotch Book Sleeve Crochet Pattern
New Pattern for Book and Tablet Cover!
We all love beautiful and functional accessories that we can crochet ourselves, right? And as a book lover, I want to keep my whole library in the best condition possible. With five kids (yep, I have FIVE!), books are in and out the door, in bedrooms, in school bags – it can be hard to keep track! So book covers are a must in my house. They’re like mother’s little helpers!
And now of course, the kids are getting older and have devices too. Same issue. Well actually, we want to keep them protected even more don’t we? Electronics are expensive! So I’ve created another super versatile pattern too, that works to snuggle both your books and tablets. It’s the Hopscotch Tablet and Book Cover Crochet Pattern!
Did you know that I have an earlier pattern using a different stitch – it’s the Sweet Stripes Book and Tablet Cover Pattern. That pattern comes in a full range of sizes for your fave books, ereaders, and tablets too. So, whether you’re a cautious mom, a book lover, or simply looking for a unique and multipurpose crochet project, you’re in for a treat!

Padded Crochet Kindle Sleeve
How do you prefer to read books? I find myself reading on my Kindle a lot these days, simply for convenience, or listening to books on Audible while I crochet. But I do love a true book, either hardcover or paperback – there’s just nothing else quite like them, and no electronic version can truly replace the feeling of book… Because they are more of a novelty to me these days I find myself wanting to take extra good care of them – hence the fabulous book sleeve of course!
Y’all have given so much love to the Sweet Stripes Book and Tablet Sleeve Pattern over the last couple of years, I knew I had to design another one with my Hopscotch stitch! Padded of course so that you and I can keep our fave dogeared paperback, trusty ereader, or expensive iPad safe while transporting them with us on the go and at home. And because books and nooks come in all shapes and sizes, there are 3 sizes included with this pattern too.
You can make this awesome DIY Bible Cover Pattern just the right size case to fit, and I have adjusted the sizing on this pattern to accommodate even more books and devices! Small (6.5″ wide x 9″ tall) is perfect for small/mass market paperbacks, datebooks, or an iPad Mini. Medium (8″ wide x 10.25″ tall) will easily fit a larger ereader like the Kindle Oasis, your trusty bible or other religious tome, larger paperbacks or a medium tablet with a case like the Kindle Fire HD8. Large (9.5″ wide x 11.5″ tall) is idea for carrying most hardback books, or larger tablets with a case, like my iPad Air. You can also use yours as a journal cover or to hold a small notebook and pen, sketchbook and pencils, day planner, datebook, bullet journal, or anything you can dream up! My son often uses the Medium size to transport his Nintendo Switch for instance.
Book Sleeves Make a Great Bookish Gift!
I designed this journal cover tutorial with 3 sizes so you can make the perfect size for your favorite book or ereader. Since this crochet book sleeve has 2 layers, it offers extra protection for your precious books and devices! No matter which size you make, Small, Medium, or Large the Hopscotch iPad Sleeve makes an amazing gift. Can you think of a more perfect gift for your book loving bestie or significant other than a handmade book sleeve? Make that gift even more special by including a new book or ereader inside!
A Small Kindle Cover would also make the perfect gift for that favorite English Teacher your kiddo adores, your brother whose nose is always buried in a book or your favorite Aunt the librarian! Not to mention those notoriously hard to please teens! You can bet they would actually use the gift of a handmade crochet tablet cover — seal the deal by gifting them a new tablet and a Kindle Unlimited subscription too!
You’ve probably seen me give my patterns a Netflix and Crochet rating, and know that I love to design patterns that are perfect for crocheting while you binge watch! This pattern is definitely down for a little Netflix action – the rounds are simple once you have the stitches down (full photo tutorials are included for extended single crochet and crossed double crochet stitches!) and the beauty of an iPad cover is that you’re making those stitches over and over so you can easily watch your show and relax with your project. So whether you watch your fave movie on Netflix or Prime Video, or pick a new, bingeable audiobook, while working on I am currently watching Foundation and listening to Crooked Kingdom on Audible after falling in love with another series (Shadow and Bone Trilogy) by the same author – Leigh Bardugo. I highly recommend both of them! How about you? What’s your current read and watch?? 💜
