Free Crochet Pattern

I don’t know what Spring looks like where you live, but here in Minnesota spring has looked like a whole lot of snow so far. Not quite the April Showers that bring May Flowers we were all promised in that nursery rhyme long ago… Despite the unseasonable weather, I wanted to design a pattern called April Showers for this month, just for fun. I am so excited to bring you another functional Free Crochet Pattern that just happens to fit the bill. I hope you enjoy making the April Showers Dish Cloths as much as I enjoyed designing them!

The April Showers Pattern started off quite differently in my head. I still have the original idea tucked away for a Rainy Day, (I know – so punny!!) but it wasn’t coming together quite as I had envisioned it in my mind. I made a bunch of round dish cloths a while back, without a pattern, just because we needed some new ones. The stitch pattern on one of them caught my eye and made me think of a sun and sun rays, and so this new idea crept in. 🙂 

I had thought of making the Cloud Cloth in the shape of a cloud as well as the Sun shape. But, to create a cloud shape I would need a simple stitch repeat to be able to imitate the shape. In the end, I decided I loved this stitch I selected to represent the cloud puffs more than a cloud shape. Hopefully y’all agree too! The additional bonus is that the April Showers Cloud Cloth works up much faster this way too! 😉

The April Showers Cloths are my first published Dish Cloth patterns, though you can find lots of other Free Crochet Patterns on my blog as well. Like any dish cloths, they work up pretty quickly, which makes them great for those (like myself!) who love instant gratification! The April Showers patterns have fairly simple repeats, so it’s a great Netflix and Crochet project! These April Showers Dish Cloths would make a great gift as well, just pair with a favorite soap! Perfect for Mother’s Day, house warming gift for new neighbors, or a unique Teacher gift! 

APRIL SHOWERS DISH CLOTH PATTERN

STEP 1: Create a loop, place hook through the loop, yo and pull the yarn through the loop, keeping the loop open, not pulling the yarn tight, ch 2. STEP 2: Yo, insert hook back in circle, yo and pull up a loop through the circle. STEP 3: Yo again and pull through 1st 2 loops on the hook, yo and pull through last 2 loops on hook, dc completed! Repeat Steps 2-3 to create additional stitches. Hold stitches with one hand, gently pull yarn end to close the circle.

NOTES:

• Beginning Chain (ch) of each round counts as first stitch where indicated.
