What do you get when you combine a community garden with a community crochet project? The fabulous Community Garden Blanket Crochet Along, that’s what! There is truly nothing better than working together with my fellow crochet designers to create something as amazing as our community is! This is the 4th community blanket I’ve had the privilege and pleasure to work on, and I can honestly say it’s my favorite to date! The whole thing started with the Friendship Blanket Crochet Along, next came the festive nod to my heritage with the Nordic Winter Afghan, followed by the gorgeous Bouquet of Flowers Afghan! Corner to Corner Blanket Square Pattern!
Have you ever tried a corner to corner (C2C) colorwork project before? If not, then I think you will find that a blanket square is the perfect project to learn on, or to practice your skills for those who have! A blanket square is large enough to give you some experience, but a small enough project to be manageable, and even to take with you on the go!
If you are new to the C2C method, then I recommend starting with a more simple project like my Fly Away Super Scarf, which you can opt to make in a solid color, or color blocks. This way you can practice the corner to corner technique without having to make multiple color changes per row, like you will with some of the rows in a C2C blanket square.
If you have made a couple corner to corner projects and are up for the challenge of colorwork, or if you’ve got more than a few projects under your belt, then the Purple Turnip Blanket Square is perfect for you! You can create all the afghan squares in the Community Garden Blanket CAL or just this one to create a pillow, wall hanging, or square to use however you like. It’s totally up to you, after all this is your project you amazing hooker! 😘 💜

Make your Purple Turnip Square!
Materials:
- YARN: Paintbox Cotton Aran Yarn (100% cotton, 1.7 oz/50 g, 93 yds/85 m)
- Sample Colors:
- HOOK: US H/8 5.0 mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle, scissors
Finished Size: HDC: 15” x 15” or DC: 20” x 20” (Approximate Sizing after Blocking)
Gauge: Not important for this pattern
Experience Level: Intermediate
Pattern Key:

RS – Right Side
WS – Wrong Side
w – white yarn
g – green yarn
pu – purple yarn
