Nordic Afghan Square

New FREE Crochet Pattern!

I know y’all will agree when I say that our crochet community is the best! I love getting to work together with my fellow fiber artists to create something even more amazing, together! The Friendship Blanket Crochet Along was such a hit, that I knew I couldn’t wait to work on another collaborative blanket! When my the talented friend Erin of Juniper and Oakes reached out about a Nordic Afghan I was so excited and honored to participate!!

Not only is this an opportunity to collaborate with my fellow crochet designers, and help y’all create a stunning blanket in the process, but this blanket is also a nod to my own heritage! My family background is largely Scandinavian, with Norwegian ancestry on both sides, and Danish too, and I grew up with many of these traditions intwined in our daily lives and holiday celebrations. So this is absolutely a project of the heart for me, and a joy to be a part of! ❤️  Read on to learn more and find my Free Pattern! I hope y’all love this pattern and afghan as much as I do!

C2C Blanket Square Pattern!

A blanket square is a great way to learn to create C2C colorwork projects! It’s a small enough project to not feel daunting, but still large enough that you have some nice experience under your belt when you’re through! If you have never completed a C2C project before, I would recommend starting with a simple pattern like my Fly Away Super Scarf Crochet Pattern which you can make in one color, or 2 colored stripes, but will not be changing colors multiple times each row like with a blanket square.

If you have crocheted C2C before and are ready to tackle the challenge of C2C colorwork then the Nordic Snowfall Squre is the perfect place to start! You can create all the squares in the Nordic Afghan Pattern, or start with this one and make a pillow, or wall hanging with your square instead! It’s totally up to you, after all this is your project you amazing hooker! 😘 💜

Need some help with the stitches? I provide photo and video tutorials within the pattern to help you with the included techniques and more! I am always happy to help you with any questions you may have! Don’t crochet yet? I’d love to help you Learn to Crochet with my fun Crochet Tutorials!
