I don’t know about y’all, but I can’t live without my coffee. I know I’m not alone there! While my Bunn coffee maker at home makes some pretty mean dark roast, I do love a good Starbucks cappuccino! But that lovely cuppa joe often makes my poor hand too hot! What is a coffee loving girl to do? Design a cute Coffee Cozy, of course! Crochet Queen to the rescue y’all!

The Sweet Stripes Coffee Cozy is very quick and easy to make, great for instant gratification and giving them as gifts! I love a fun project that I can give away, and this one great because you can make several pretty quickly. Of course I couldn’t stop with the classic Cup Cozy, and had to design a Mug Cozy to go with it! They make the perfect pair, so you can keep your hands cool and your coffee warm where ever you enjoy it! Coffee Cozies make a great gift, especially given with a coffee shop gift card or bag of gourmet coffee! Don’t forget to make a few for yourself too!

SWEET STRIPES COFFEE COZY PATTERN

- Make a gauge swatch to ensure a good fit!
- Repeat between * and * number of times indicated.
- Beginning Chain (ch) of each round does NOT count as first stitch

PATTERN DIRECTIONS:
TRAVEL MUG COFFEE COZY:
- Designed to fit most Travel Mugs and Disposable Coffee Cups.
- Finished size should be approximately 3” tall x 4.5-5” wide.
- Use WW yarn and G 4.0 mm hook.
- This cozy is worked in the round and joined together each round.
- Fsc (Foundation Single Crochet recommended for R1!) –> Fsc tutorial
Round 1: Begin with 40 Fsc. Or ch 41 and sc in the 2nd ch from hook and each st, sl st into 1st st (40 sc).
Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc here & throughout), 3 dc in same, skip next 3 st, *4 dc in next, skip next 3 st,* 9 times, sl st into top ch of beg ch (40 dc).
Round 3: Ch 1, sc into each st around, sl st into 1st st (40 sc).
Round 4: Repeat Round 2 (40 dc).
Round 5: Repeat Round 3 (40 sc).
Round 6: Repeat Round 2 (40 dc).
Round 7: Repeat Round 3 (40 sc).
Round 8: Repeat Round 2 (40 dc).
Round 9: Repeat Round 3 (40 sc). FO leaving a long tail and weave in the ends. You are now ready to enjoy some COFFEE or TEA with your amazing, new, made-by-you Sweet Stripes Coffee Cozy! Woot!
HANDLED MUG COFFEE COZY:
- Designed to fit most 11 oz. mugs.
- Finished size should be approximately 3” tall x 11.5-12” wide.
- Use WW yarn and G 4.0 mm hook.
- This cozy is worked in rows and joined together with a button and loop that is fastened through the handle of the mug.
- Fsc (Foundation Single Crochet recommended for R1!) –> Fsc tutorial
Row 1: Begin with 37 Fsc. Or ch 38 and sc into 2nd ch from hook and each st, (37 sc).
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc here & throughout), turn, dc in same, skip next 3 st, *4 dc in next, skip next 3 st,* 8 times, 2 dc in last st, (36 dc).
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc into each st, (36 sc).
Row 4: Ch 3, turn, sk next, 3 dc in next, sk next 3 sts, *4 dc in next, skip next 3 st,* 7 times, sk next st, dc in last, (36 dc).
Row 5: Repeat Row 3 (36 sc).
Row 6: Repeat Row 2 (36 dc).
Row 7: Repeat Row 3 (36 sc).
Row 8: Repeat Row 4 (36 dc).
Row 9: Repeat Row 3 (36 sc). Do not FO, but continue with Button Tab instructions below.
BUTTON TAB:
- Ch 1, turn and work 12 sc evenly down the short edge of the cozy, (12 sc).
- DO NOT DC IN SAME ST AS CH 3. INSTEAD, DC IN EACH ST AND TOP OF CH 3 TO ACHIEVE A STRAIGHT BUTTON TAB! CH 3 COUNTS AS ST.
- Turn, sk next, sl st in next 3 sts, ch 3, dc in next 6 sts, (3 sl st, 7 dc).
- Turn, ch 3, dc in 6 sts. Repeat 2 more times, (7 dc, 3 rows).
- Turn, ch 3, dc, ch 4, sk 3 sts, dc in last 2 sts, (4 dc).
- Turn ch 1, sc in same st as ch 1 and next st, 4 sc in ch 4 sp, sc in last 2 sts, (8 sc).
- FO leaving a long tail and weave in the ends. Sew a 1 inch button on the opposite side about half an inch to an inch from the edge, in Row 5. Finished!
- You are now ready to enjoy some COFFEE or TEA with your amazing, new, made-by-you Sweet Stripes Mug Cozy! Woot!
