Sweet Stripes Easter Baskets
New Crochet Pattern!
It’s finally spring and even though there is fresh snow on the ground and more in the forecast for next week, I am beyond thrilled… How about you? I love the season where the snow *finally* melts, (HINT HINT Mother Nature!!) and I can start planning my garden for the year! My kids and I are ready to get outside and my youngest is ready to put on her rain boots and start puddle stomping Peppa style! ☔️ And of course there’s the fun of Easter too! My kids love hunting for eggs filled with treats, and so I just had to create some Sweet Stripes Easter Baskets crochet patterns for them to use to collect their goodies! This is a quick and fun pattern, and easy to master, so you can make all the baskets you need for your favorite little honey bunnies too! I hope y’all love this new pattern as much as I do! 🙂

Crochet Easter Bunny Baskets
I have to admit that crocheted baskets are one of my favorite things to make, do you agree? They are such a fun and mindless project, and of course super useful for storage and organizing! The first basket I designed was part of my Farmers Market Veggies pattern – gotta have somewhere to store all those cute crocheted veggies, amiright? But of course I couldn’t stop there! Next I designed some tapestry crochet baskets you’re sure to love! Decorate for the holidays and store your favorite things in the Hometown Holiday Baskets all winter long. Or if you’re mad for plaid you might rather make the Buffalo Plaid Baskets which are so fun to customize to match your decor or season you’re in! Or have fun with color while you use up some scrap yarn (or match your decor) with the Pop of Color Basket!
If you’d rather make a hanging basket then I am excited to share that I’ve got 2 different options for those! The Sweet Stripes Hanging Baskets were our spring crochet along pattern in 2022 and were a big hit! These fun baskets can be made in 3 different sizes and have 2 hanging loop options too, perfect for organizing any room of the house! If you like a basic pattern, then will love the Farmhouse Hanging Basket, which uses simple stitches throughout, with some fun decorative stitching at the opening. These hanging baskets are great for holding your fave plant or a bouquet of flowers – this one is a favorite gift for Mother’s Day!
Then last year I designed my Hopscotch Easter Baskets with my own kids in mind because those store-bought straw baskets never last. And because I had so many requests to design a Sweet Stripes version, I knew this year I had to create our newest version! So go ahead and read on to learn more about the latest Sweet Stripes Easter Baskets crochet pattern too! 🐰

Easter Baskets crochet pattern
The Sweet Stripes Easter Baskets crochet pattern is both quick and fun to make y’all! I finished both of my samples in just a few hours, even the large one! The baskets are simple to make because you’re working in the round all the way and then the handle is worked in rows, with very minimal sewing! The pattern does use doubled yarn, but but the stitches are simple – the Sweet Stripes Stitch™ we all know and love, a half double base, and some slip stitch round and rows used to make the basket and handle extra sturdy! You can sit down and complete a basket in 1-2 evenings, so you can easily make a few of these baskets for your favorite humans in time for Easter.
I’ve included 2 sizes in the pattern, which are both generously sized, but not too big. These nice, sturdy Sweet Stripes Easter Baskets are the perfect size for collecting eggs on the hunt, filling with treats and toys from the Easter Bunny, or as a fab handmade gift basket! Plus you can leave the handle off and make some for storage and organization around your home too!
This is 100% a Netflix and chill type of project so whether you watch your fave movie on Netflix or Prime Video, or pick a new, bingeable audiobook, while working on your crochet shoulder bag! I just started listening to The Ten Thousand Doors of January on Audible after falling in love with another book (The Once and Future Witches) by the same author – Alix E. Harrow. I highly recommend both of them! 💜

DIY Crochet Easter Basket!
This large Easter Basket crochet pattern is perfect for confident advanced beginners who are confident with basic stitches and ready to try working with doubled yarn! I have included detailed photos and instructions for the handle. You will be able to confidently say you KNOW how to crochet an Easter Basket once you’ve completed this pattern!
Here’s what you need to get started: 2 balls (you hold 2 strands together) total 250 – 400 yards of Red Heart Super Saver Ombrés or any Worsted/Aran Weight 4 Yarn of your choice. You will also need a K/10.5 6.5 mm crochet hook. ← I highly recommend these gorgeous beauties! My 100% go to hooks are Furls Streamline Resin Hooks, I loved using mine to create this sturdy crochet Easter Basket!
Below are the yarns I used to create my samples! For this project I used RHSS Ombrés in Scuba Ombré paired with Turquoise and Deep Teal Ombré paired with Minty, and TBH (to be honest) I’m not sure which combo I love the most!! 😍 I think you will have a LOT of fun choosing your colors for this project, whether you go for a high contrast pair or a more subtle blend. These baskets also look amazing in RHSS Stripes!! I have one going in Retro Stripes and White and it’s truly TDF (to die for) but not quite ready for it’s close up yet.
