Plaid Christmas Stocking
I’ve really been loving the Buffalo Plaid trend, so it was only a matter of time before I HAD to create another plaid pattern to go with my Buffalo Plaid Basket Pattern! Plaid has such a classic and timeless vibe, and feels like the perfect match for other lasting trends like farmhouse and cottage core… What I love about this easy one piece crochet christmas stocking is that the stitches are simple, and the color changes are repetitive so you’ll have the hang of it in no time!
The Buffalo Plaid Stocking Pattern design uses simple stitches, and includes detailed instructions for changing colors. You really only need to be able to single crochet, half double crochet, and learn to change colors to master this stocking crochet pattern! In fact, I loved this fab Buffalo Plaid stitch pattern and the amazing Brava Bulky Yarn gifted to me for this pattern by WeCrochet so much that I am already working on the matching Christmas Ornament Pattern! I love matching decor so much, don’t you?

Farmhouse Christmas Stocking
Nervous about working with 3 different colors? Don’t worry! The Buffalo Plaid Stocking Crochet Pattern, only uses two colors per round, and you just let the other color hang inside. So you don’t have to worry about tangling up 3 colors each round, or weaving in a ton of ends either! Crochet is meant to be fun, right?
The pattern includes 2 sizes so you can make just the right sized crochet stocking to fit your needs or make the perfect gift! The pattern uses basic stitches, just single crochets and half double crochets, so you can feel confident taking on a new challenge like color changes or working with faux fur yarn for the cuff! I will also teach you how to do a magic circle, because this is my favorite way to begin a pattern worked in the round! The pattern includes a photo and written tutorial with a link to my YouTube tutorial too!
You may be wondering, but is a Plaid Stocking pattern too complicated for Netflix and Crochet? Huzzah, this project is definitely down for some binge watching! The stitches and repetition are simple, and once you get the rhythm of the color changes down it’s almost mindless. You got this! Do you have a favorite media to binge on while you crochet? I love to listen to Audiobooks or my favorite music on repeat during the day, which I find a little less distracting. At night when I’m relaxing with my hooks and yarn I love to binge watch series with lots of seasons and episodes – and I confess I do not like to have to wait a week for the next episode!

Crochet a Christmas Stocking
My testers told me this stocking pattern was quick to make and easy to follow! Because of the frequency of color changes, and the heel which can be a little bit tricky, I have rated this pattern for intermediate level crocheters. I am positive that a confident advanced beginner could definitely tackle the pattern with ease with my included photo tutorials!
Here’s what you need to crochet your Buffalo Plaid Stocking: 3 balls in the colors of your choice Brava Bulky yarn by WeCrochet or 200 – 300 yards of your choice of bulky/chunky weight (5) yarn, plus for the optional fur cuff you will want 1 skein of luxurious Fable Fur yarn by WeCrochet or 50 yards of your choice of super bulky faux fur yarn, and an K/10.5 6.5 mm crochet hook. ← I highly recommend this colorful beauty right here! That’s it! Simple, right?
Below are the yarns I used to create my sample stockings! I want to thank WeCrochet for generously providing the yarn I used to create this festive and fun pattern! I used Brava Bulky in Red, Wine, and Black with Falke Fable Fur for the Red Buffalo Plaid Stocking and Brava Bulky in White, Silver, and Black with Lapin Fable Fur for the White Buffalo Plaid Stocking! Which combo caught your eye? This yarn is so easy to work with, and so soft and luxurious! The texture is really nice and I just love how quickly these stockings worked up, and easily with no splitting or knots to worry about! You are going to love making your crochet stockings with Brava! ❤️
