Hands up if you would rather spend time crocheting than wrapping presents? 🎁 Me TOO! I have an awesome solution for you! Introducing the Sweet Stripes Gift Bags Pattern! Yes now you can crochet an amazing, reusable and pretty gift bag instead of fighting with wrapping paper or spending way too much money on a gift bag from the store! YASSS!! I’m pretty sure crochet can solve any problem! 😉❤️ I hope y’all will love this pattern as much as I do! 🙂

DIY Gift Bag Features
I’m not a big fan of wrapping paper. I think it is wasteful, though I do appreciate how much enjoyment ripping into it brings to young children! As a mother of 5, it feels overwhelming not only to wrap all the gifts but to think of all the waste produced by the gift wrapping and the packaging everything comes in! I’ve gotten creative over the years, even digging into my fabric stash to wrap gifts in fabric and ribbons for a couple of years. Great fun but the clean up from that was a headache of folding and ironing so back to the drawing board I went! Of course I’ve tried paper bags from the store, but they inevitably rip after a few uses, even with careful taping.
And so I though why not crochet some gift bags? I’ve been having fun building my collection of Sweet Stripes designs this year and the stitch seemed perfect for the task! I added a few extra rows of sc to help keep the contents less visible to prying eyes! Any one else have kids that will try to find out what is in every single package under the tree before they’re allowed to open them? 😆 I have to send design ideas through the mom approval system before the reach the designing process!! Can’t remember why exactly I needed to for this pattern… 😉
So the design got approved (yay!) and created, and tested, and tech edit and now I am so excited to share the Sweet Stripes Gift Bags crochet pattern with YOU! What I think is great about this awesome gift bags pattern is that you can crochet a large gift bag in just a few hours that you can use year after year! Or you can whip up a small gift bag in about 2 hours for a last minute, hard to wrap gift! Or if you really like living on the edge, you can make a mini gift bag as a gift card holder on your way to the event! 😉
So what can each of the bag sizes hold? Let me give you a few examples! And I hope you will come back and share with me what you wrapped up in your Sweet Stripes Gift Bags too! The Mini Gift Bag is perfect for gift cards, earrings or other jewelry, and small toys. The Small Gift Bag is great for smaller plushies, books, card games, <– (this is a family favorite!) and small toys! Medium Gift Bags will hold larger stuffies, a couple of tshirts, or a baby blanket! The Large Gift Bag can hold a large stuffie, coloring book set, game ball, board game or my favorite – several large skeins of yarn!

Make your Sweet Stripes Gift Bags!
This homemade Christmas gift bags pattern is an Easy level Crochet Pattern, perfect for the confident beginner and everyone comfortable with basic crochet stitches! I have included photo tutorials for the magic circle, so you can tackle this project with confindence! 💪 You can make a handmade crochet gift bag that is perfect for gifts cards, jewelry, books, games, stuffies and more! All you need to get started is 1-2 skeins of your favorite worsted weight yarn (50 – 500 yards) and an I/9 5.5 mm Crochet Hook! <– I highly recommend this gorgeous beauty! She crochets like a dream if you can stop staring at her that is… 😉 These are the yarns that I used to create my samples – and they work perfectly for this pattern!!
