Hey there Crochet Friends! I am so excited to bring you another fun and functional (my fave combination!) Free Crochet Pattern! I had a lot of fun making and designing the Cast Iron Handle Cover and Pot Holders Pattern. I sure hope y’all have as much fun making these as I did!

The Cast Iron Handle Cover pattern was inspired by my sadly burned and endlessly dirty handle covers. We only cook with Cast Iron Pans in our house, but I found that the covers I was given were not a good fit and were NOT easy to clean! Crochet Queen to the rescue y’all!

The DC Dice Bag pattern was inspired by a problem I found when playing board and dice games. We love games in our house, but I find we are forever either chasing dice across the floor, or they knock over pieces when rolled on the board. Add to this that my 11 year old son has a rather extensive collection of dice for D&D play.

Happy National Donut Day! In honor of this day, I am so excited to bring you another fun and functional Free Crochet Pattern! I hope you enjoy making some Delicious Donut Dish Cloth as much as I enjoyed designing the pattern!

I created the Donut Dish Cloth Pattern in honor of National Donut Day, which is the first Friday of June. The day honors both the lovely and delicious fried doughnut and those who served in the US Military in the first World War. The short version is that donuts and coffee, and other baked good were distributed to soldiers at canteens at the war front to help improve the soldiers’ morale. These were handed out by Salvation Army volunteers who became known as Doughnut Dollies, and the resultant Chicago Salvation Army fundraiser led to the creation of National Donut Day. I don’t know what Spring looks like where you live, but here in Minnesota spring has looked like a whole lot of snow so far. Not quite the April Showers that bring May Flowers we were all promised in that nursery rhyme long ago… Despite the unseasonable weather, I wanted to design a pattern called April Showers for this month, just for fun. I am so excited to bring you another functional Free Crochet Pattern that just happens to fit the bill. I hope you enjoy making the April Showers Dish Cloths as much as I enjoyed designing them!

The April Showers Pattern started off quite differently in my head. I still have the original idea tucked away for a Rainy Day, (I know – so punny!!) but it wasn’t coming together quite as I had envisioned it in my mind. I made a bunch of round dish cloths a while back, without a pattern, just because we needed some new ones. The stitch pattern on one of them caught my eye and made me think of a sun and sun rays, and so this new idea crept in. 🙂

The sweet Tiny Bunny Amigurumi is the perfect accompaniment to the Easter Toy Tote pattern! Tiny Bunny would be so hoppy to play in the toy tote with the other toys! (So punny, I know! 😉 ) The Tiny Bunny Amigurumi was inspired by the popularity of my Tiny Dinosaur Amigurumi. I knew I wanted to design another pattern like that one, and Easter was the next big holiday. So it was only natural that this fun Tiny Bunny Amigurumi pattern should be created!

Hey y’all! Is it just me, or is this year flying by even faster than last year?? I can’t believe it’s almost spring! In honor of this exciting time of year, I am so excited to bring you another fun and functional (my fave combination 😉 ) Free Crochet Pattern! The Easter Toy Tote pattern was inspired by a need I saw with my younger 2 kiddos. My 6 year old wants to bring a set of dolls to play with everywhere we go. I happily encourage this because then she can pretty well occupy herself, and everybody wins! My 3 year old needs a variety of items to keep him happy, and this is a nice way to bring a variety of small items along, without weighing down my purse! 😉

I don’t know about y’all, but in our house Tacos are their own food group. Revered by all, both in food and crochet form! So it was only natural that this fun Taco Keychain pattern should evolve! After the popularity of my Mini Ice Cream Cone Keychains at our monthly Boutique Sale, my brain was bursting with ideas for kitchy keychains.

But I couldn’t have done it alone. Welcome back to the next step in your Learn to Crochet Journey – the Half Double Crochet Stitch! Just one additional step takes you from a single crochet to a half double crochet stitch! What’s more, with a half double crochet stitch you can crochet bigger, faster and create so many things from garments, to hats to blankets!

This Learn to Crochet Series was designed to help you learn to crochet in the same manner I learned! For me, the most accessible method to learn crochet was through the help of books, YouTube videos (like those you will find below!), and beginner patterns. While there are some fantastic programs out there, as a busy mom I preferred this method of learning rather than having a formal “teacher” and classes.

The other aspect that of self paced teaching that I like is that you can learn without pressure, at your own pace, and in your own time. Like I stated above, this makes it perfect for busy moms (like me!) or students who need to work at their own pace! Or those who don’t have a lot of free time to take a class or seminar, but are eager to learn! Crochet is a wonderful creative outlet! When I found crochet, I knew that I was HOME! 🙂 I hope it feels the same for your too, but if it doesn’t, learning this way won’t cost you much time or money – Hooray! So, let’s get started!
