I was just wondering how much yarn the medium tote bag will need. I noticed you gave a range and I wasn’t sure how much yarn I’d need for the medium size you’re posting on the blog.
Thanks,
Hi Chris,
Thanks so much for visiting and your interest in the Sweet Stripes Market Tote Crochet Along! The approximate yardage for each size: The smallest size requires 350-450 yards approximately, The medium requires 450-550 yards approximately, and the large size requires 550-650 yards approximately. This will vary with your tension, and the brand/color of yarn you choose.
Hope you enjoy the pattern! Best,
Lisa Fox
I am making the Medium Tote Bag and was fine through Round 4. Beginning with Round 5 the directions stop before you get to the number of stitches for the round. I improvised to get to the correct stitch count of 96> Am I missing something? Round 6 & 7 are the same. Is this the way it is supposed to be? I am not a very experienced crocheter and am a little lost. Can you help? Thank you.
Hi Christine,
I hope you are enjoying the pattern! Yes, the final round count for Round 5 should be 96. I’m sorry that the webpage was not displaying correctly! I’ve checked and it does look ok on our end. Here’s the instructions for that round.
Round 5: Ch 1, hdc in same and next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 18 sts, [hdc in next 3 sts, 2 hdc in next st,] 6 times, hdc in next 18 sts, [hdc in next 3 sts, 2 hdc in next st,] 5 times, sl st to join, (96 hdc).
Happy Hooking!
Lisa Fox
