CREATE THE HANDLE: (choose one)
Using G/6 4.0 mm hook for Handle
Row 1 of all Handles is worked into the first 4 sts of Round 21/25.
HANDLE LENGTH: Handles can be made to measure, or use the counts listed below. Handle Gauge is: 16 sc x 20 rows = 4” square using G/6 4.0 mm Hook. So adding/removing 4 rows will add or subtract an inch of length from the handle. The weight of the water bottle will cause some stretching so keep that in mind when you choose your length.
PRO TIP: For a neater edge on the handle, skip the ch-1. Simply turn and work directly into the first stitch.
FOREARM HANDLE: (12 inches)
Row 1: Ch 1, sc in next 4 sts, turn, (4 sc).
Rows 2-60: Ch 1 (optional – see TIP above), sc in each st, turn, (4 sc, 59 rows). FO and leave a long tail. Continue with Sewing Handle below.
SHOULDER HANDLE: (28 inches)
Row 1: Ch 1, sc in next 4 sts, turn, (4 sc).
Rows 2-140: Ch 1 (optional – see TIP above), sc in each st, turn, (4 sc, 139 rows). FO and leave a long tail. Continue with Sewing Handle below.
CROSSBODY HANDLE: (3 Lengths: SMALL 42 in, MEDIUM 48 in, LARGE 54 in)
ALL LENGTHS: Row 1: Ch 1, sc in next 4 sts, turn, (4 sc).
SMALL: Rows 2-210: Ch 1 (optional – see TIP above), sc in each st, turn, (4 sc, 209 rows). FO and leave a long tail. Continue with Sewing Handle below.
MEDIUM: Rows 2-240: Ch 1 (optional – see TIP above), sc in each st, turn, (4 sc, 239 rows). FO and leave a long tail. Continue with Sewing Handle below.
LARGE: Rows 2-270: Ch 1 (optional – see TIP above), sc in each st, turn, (4 sc, 269 rows). FO and leave a long tail. Continue with Sewing Handle below.
SEW HANDLE TO WATER BOTTLE HOLDER:
Step 1: Count 12 sts (Small) or 14 sts (Large) from the edges of the handle on both sides and mark them. The 4 sts between the markers are where the handle should be attached. Use yarn tail to whipstitch the handle to the 4 marked sts of the bottle holder. Weave in ends.
